May 25, 2005 regular village board meeting

Village of Wonewoc Proceeding of regular Village Board meeting May 25, 2005.
The meeting was called to order pursuant to the posted and published notice. The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. The following trustees present for meeting: Field, Norling, Jennings, Roehling, Miller, Ott, and Decot.
Motion by Jennings, seconded by Norling to approve the bills and vouchers for the month of May. Motion carried.
Motion by Ott, seconded by Field to approve the minutes of the April 27, 2005 board meeting. Motion carried.
Police Report--Chief Ott gave report on police activities. There were a total of 66 calls in April. As of today, there have been 56 calls for the month of May with 6 drug arrests in the past 2 weeks.
Agenda:
1. After much discussion regarding the construction of shelters at Southtown Park and the Baraboo River Canoe Landing, this item was tabled until Norling has more information on shelters and he has a written proposal from one of the contractors.
2. Norling presented a bid from Scott Construction for $2,445.00 to construct a road in the campground area at Legion Park. The electrical hook-ups for campers and trimming of trees have been completed in the park. Motion by Miller to have the road constructed by Scott Construction for $2,445.00. Seconded by Jennings. Motion carried.
3. Jim Bohn, Waste Water Treatment Plant, presented the Wastewater Compliance Maintanence Annual Report (CMAR). Motion by Ott, seconded by Miller to approve the CMAR. Motion carried.
4. Timothy Fulton who was hired as a lifeguard for the summer will only be able to fill- in occasionally rather than work a regular schedule. He and Stephanie Birdd will be fill- in life-guards. Another regular lifeguard will need to be hired. Motion by Field, second by Jennings to hire Dan Rick. Motion carried.
5. Motion by Norling, seconded by Jennings to approve addition of attendance policy to the Employee Handbook. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
1. Anne Degner representing the WMMA asked if there could be a mud volleyball tournament during the July 4th celebration. She was told that as long as there was no damage to Baker’s Field they could put in 2 volley ball courts.
Communication/Announcements:
1. J. Bohn reported that lift station located near Baker’s Field Park had a pump come off the pipes. At the present time he does not have any idea of the cost to repair. However, he will let the Board know as soon as he has quotes.
2. On Monday, May 30, Don Hubele will turn off the power from the substation down the between Center and North East streets to complete maintenance work on lines. The outage will occur at 6:00am and power will be restored by 7:00pm.
3. The swimming pool will open for the 2005 season on Friday June 3.
4. Roehling announced that West Washington Street will not be seal coated this year. Residents want to wait until next year to have the street repaired. They also want the street curb and guttered and are willing to pay for it if it is put on the tax roll as a special assessment to be paid over several years. Since West Washington Street is not being seal coated, Pine Street and School Road will be seal coated this year.
Motion by Roehling, seconded by Norling to adjourn at 8:23pm. Motion carried.
